Ian Rowley

Ian Rowley has lived in Marylebone for 24 years with his wife. He has been a Councillor since 2007 and has a PhD in economics. In the Conservative administration he chaired the council’s Audit and Performance Committee and sits on a scrutiny committee and various operational boards. He also chaired the Conservative group’s backbench group. He currently sits on the finance, planning and economic development policy and scrutiny committee.

Ian’s professional back ground is in investment management. Ian is involved in supporting the arts, having chaired the charity and education committee of the Worshipful Company of Painter Stainers, where he is Renter Warden.

He can often be seen being walked by Becky, his Italian Greyhound. During COVID he coordinated thousands of phone calls to local people.

On Baker Street, outside of Joe & The Juice and Chipotle, drivers are prone to hover whilst waiting for work which can lead to anti-social behaviour.

We were delighted that the Westminster Tree Trust planted its 1000th tree in Marylebone, a Ginko Baloba. We were delighted to welcome Alan Titmarsh to plant the tree, together with the Lord Mayor of Westminster and children from St Vincent's School.

Another proposed development of the building owned by the Methodists.  There has been ongoing dialogue with people living in Bingham Place to provide office space, with external spaces including a roof terrace which would front Marylebone Road.
In 2018 GLA ranked the two closest schools to Marylebone Road as the worst polluted in London.

Our understanding is that plans for the Seymour Leisure Centre continue to be on track. Public exhibitions will occur in June at Marylebone and Church Street Libraries and at the Seymour Leisure Centre. Zoom meetings are also planned in June.
