Lorraine has lived in Little Venice since 1983 and ran a family electronics business on Edgware Road for 17 years. She now works locally at the City of Westminster college as a teaching assistant to young disabled adults. Lorraine’s interests are education, social services and disability issues.

Lorraine is was first elected as a Councillor for Little Venice in May 2018.

Refurbishment of Laptops, and Family-Activity Packs

The Conservative-controlled Westminster City Council has arranged for the refurbishment of two hundred decommissioned Council laptops. The laptops have been distributed to help vulnerable families hitherto without computers.

Warwick Avenue Canal Bridge Refurbishment

We are pleased to report that the two sides of the bridge on Warwick Avenue over the canal have both been repaired and are now been repainted. Significant structural repairs were needed following a vehicle damaging the bridge and this has now been completed.

There are now nearly 500 electric charging points in Westminster, a figure which is planned to more than double by the end of the year to over 1000. This is the highest number of charging points of any local authority in the UK.

Although major works to Westminster’s housing stock has now had to be paused, works were completed to Fleming Court prior to the lockdown. A new door entry system as well as security gate have been installed.

Reduced lift service at Edgware Road tube station (Bakerloo line)

Saturday, 28 March, 2020
There is planned maintenance work on both lifts at Edgware Road station (Bakerloo Line) until early June. One lift should remain in service at all times, but at peak times there could be queues to enter/exit the station.
