Protecting residents amenity from alfresco dinner

A recent planning application to place tables and chairs outside The Gate restaurant on Allitsen Road creating an afresco dining experience was withdrawn by the applicant following strong opposition from local residents. 

Cllr Robert Rigby represented the interests of a large number of local people who objected to this proposal by highlighting the negative affect it would have had on the character and appearance of Allitsen Road which is very much residential and should not be seen as part of the High Street. 

"We are very grateful for the help Cllr Rigby provided in helping to protect our amenity, if approved as proposed it would have created an unacceptable level of nuisance" said one resident who lives opposite this restaurant.
