Approved plans for Manchester Square aim to improve routes for pedestrians and cyclists around the Square. Designs include seating, more greening and a ‘Wallace’ water fountain to enhance the setting around The Wallace Collection.
The project also supports community and outreach work.
Pedestrian safety and accessibility has been taken into consideration with wider footways and step-free crossings and also a dedicated eastbound cycle lane on the Northern side of the square. Following the positive response to last year’s open consultation, with 83% in favour overall and 66% of residents in favour, the work on this project is expected to commence shortly.
While very much a project for Marylebone the scheme is being developed in conjunction with the Council’s Oxford Street District framework. The Council is working in partnership with The Portman Estate and Baker Street Quarter Partnership.
The project team will be updating the Manchester Square Project section of the Oxford Street District website, as well as sending out regular email updates to stakeholders. If you would like to sign up to the general and works updates or have any other queries please email.
