Gas works

We all acknowledge that the major gas replacement works currently being carried out across Pimlico are necessary. That doesn’t mean we can’t be frustrated by the on-going road closures and disruptions. Cllr Nickie Aiken joined forces Churchill’s councillors to meet with the gas company, Cadent, for an update on the project which has seen road closures along Gloucester and Lupus Streets over recent weeks.

Commenting Cllr Aiken said: “Cadent informed us that the work is on schedule and is going well. From the size of the yellow pipe I saw in Lupus Street this is a massive project! There will now be underground testing over the next few weeks, so although it may seem as if no work is being undertaken, we are assured that there is. Once this work is completed, they will then start to backfill some of their excavations and return as many parking spaces as possible for use by residents.”

Signs will be displayed to let residents know that the test is taking place. Once this is successfully completed, Cadent will reinstate the excavations and clear the site, earlier in April than originally anticipated. Local councillors are now liaising with Cadent and businesses along Lupus Street regarding compensation for any loss of business they may have incurred during the works.

More Police in Marylebone

The single most important issue that residents tell us matters to them is feeling safe when walking around the area.

Unfortunately, we regularly receive reports about shoplifting in Marylebone. We have managed to get the council to install several CCTV cameras.
