Westminster City Council has set up a specialist team tasked with tackling abuses of short-term letting with over 1,500 properties in Westminster under investigation. Over the summer our Conservative Council successfully took legal action against a City Council tenant who had been illegally renting his Council property and was ordered to pay over £100,000 after losing a court case.

In 2018 alone, action by the Conservative Council resulted in 24 social housing properties being successfully recovered from illegal subletting - including one here in Regent’s Park ward where the tenant was receiving over £1,100 per calendar month while living in Swansea. If you have any concerns regarding fraud, please contact the fraud hotline 020 7361 2777 or by email.

The single most important issue that residents tell us matters to them is feeling safe when walking around the area.

Unfortunately, we regularly receive reports about shoplifting in Marylebone. We have managed to get the council to install several CCTV cameras.
