A new Community Protection Zone has just gone live on and around Queensway and Inverness Terrace to help police tackle the sharp increase in antisocial behaviour there during lockdown, and ban persistent troublemakers from the area. We worked closely with the police and local people on this, and thank Chelsea Coleman, the council's local Neighbourhood Co-ordinator, for getting it done.
A small number of disruptive and aggressive individuals among the large contingent of rough sleepers temporarily housed there by the council and other authorities, along with drug dealers already known to the police, are the main offenders.
It is good to hear that residents appreciate the 24-hour security guards on the Inverness Terrace hostels used by Westminster.
Thanks to great teamwork and support, many of the rough sleepers are now ready and able to reconnect with their previous lives and go into housing.
