Your Conservative Council has started trialling from November a scheme to collect residents’ food waste for the first time from five areas across the Westminster including Hamilton Terrace here in Regent’s Park Ward.
The waste will be taken to an anaerobic digestion plant, broken down and converted into biogas for producing electricity and fertiliser for food farming.
As Cllr Rigby said ‘With the need to make our city cleaner and greener we’re piloting a sustainable way of handling food waste; we recognise the challenge with waste collection in Westminster that is why we are testing the scheme before considering rolling it out more widely’.
