Flooding

Flash flooding has damaged a number of properties across Westminster this week. Our thoughts are with those affected and we want to help as much as we can. We have been working closely with the London fire Brigade and other partners to ensure everyone's safety.

Please do contact us if you need support in finding alternative accommodation if you are unable to stay in your home. The council has opened the Porchester Hall  at 45 Porchester Road, W2 5HS as an information and rest centre.

We would advise you to phone your insurance company as soon as possible and follow their advice. Take photographs before you start cleaning and ask your insurer before discarding items that cannot be cleaned, such as mattresses and carpets. If you live in a private rented property, also contact your landlord. If you are a Westminster Council tenant or leaseholder, please contact the Council's housing customer service centre to assist.

Heating, dehumidifiers and good ventilation can help dry out your home. Mould will stop growing as your home dries out but if it persists, contact a specialist cleaner.

Councillors are also in contact with Thames Water to seek a dedicated email address to which people can register their issues. We have also asked them for a full update on causes, actions and a community reassurance plan.

Disposing of Waste

If you have furniture or other items that were destroyed in the flood, we have arranged for our waste contractor to come and collect these items.
