We spoke to Cllr Rachael Robathan, Leader of Westminster City Council, as she launched the Conservatives' manifesto for 2022.

Rachael explained

Today we're launching our manifesto, our blueprint for what our plans are for the next four years, building on the work that we've done over the last four years as a Conservative administration in Westminster City Council.

And we've built this manifesto listening to our residents about what matters to them.

And we have five key headlines.

Number one, we want to build a greener City for everyone.

Number two, we want to grow our economy and jobs.

Number three, we want to maintain clean streets.

Number four, keep our City safe.

Number five, remain a City that cares for everyone.

And all of these things we want to do for the lowest council tax in the country, as we have at the present.

Now, in our manifesto, you'll see detailed pledges of how we will meet all of these objectives. But you'll also see our 2018 pledges that we made to you, our residents.

And what we have done over the last four years to meet those promises, to show that this isn't just a document, this is a living commitment to our residents of what we will do as an administration, a Conservative administration, in Westminster if you elect us on May 5th.

Our Plan for Safe Streets

It's time for Safe Streets in Westminster

Wednesday, 1 April, 2026
Under Labour, crime has got worse. Phone theft, antisocial behaviour, public disorder and drug dealing have all increased. People think twice before using their phone on the street. Shopkeepers have accepted shoplifting as a daily reality. Families avoid their local parks. And schools have lost community police officers. All under Sadiq Khan’s watch as Westminster Labour have overseen managed decline.
