More police in and around Great Peter Street
We are very concerned about the rise in crime and anti-social behaviour taking place in Great Peter Street and the local neighbourhood.
We are seeing drug dealing, drunkenness, loitering and aggressive behaviour in broad daylight, on a daily basis.
People living locally are rightfully concerned, whilst school children are witnessing awful scenes and are afraid to go to school. Church-goers feel unsafe, with aggressive begging interrupting their services. Local businesses are impacted too.
This must stop.
We are very grateful for the hard work of the existing police teams. However, our local team is 50% down on official staffing levels - which makes it harder for them to tackle anti-social behaviour and criminality.
Enough is enough. The government has recruited 20,000 extra police across the country - including an extra 3,666 new officers for London. We now need the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to make sure our part of Westminster has its fair share to meet the challenges our community faces.
By working together, we can increase police numbers and reduce crime in this location.
How you can help
- Sign our petition below, calling for the urgent allocation of more police officers.
- By making sure you report crimes to the police, you can increase police officer numbers for the longer term. This is because officer numbers are worked out on the level of crime in an area. Even if the police don’t attend a reported crime, it is logged on the system and will count towards the allocation of resources. To report a crime, contact the police.
