The Labour Council are planning to install a district heating system that could cost £50,000 per flat.
This won’t even reduce your bills!
Tenants could end up paying for this through their service charges and leaseholders could have to make a large upfront payment.
We were previously told that installing individual electric systems would cost too much because of the grid upgrades required.
We were told that grid upgrades would cost between £10m and £25m. Having spoken with UK Power Networks there is currently plenty of spare capacity on the grid to accommodate this.
We have been misled. The council have spent £0.5m on consultants to give them the wrong information.
The consultants appear to have been pushing unnecessary “flagship” projects that they were working on, that we do not need or want. Despite knowing all this, the council plan to spend even more money on these consultants.
