Afternoon tea, dance classes and museum visits were on offer for older people across Westminster at this year's Silver Sunday, the Westminster Extra has reported. Westminster City Council puts on a series of events for the over-65s each autumn, with the aim of helping isolated people make new friends and bridging the generation divide.
There were also advice sessions, digital skills workshops and lunches, in venues and with supporting organisations including London Zoo, the Hippodrome Casino, Lord's Cricket Ground, Songhaven and Open Age.
Cllr Christabel Flight, Westminster's Older People's Champion and the founder of Silver Sunday, said: "Silver Sunday is a celebration of older people and the important role they play in our communities. Meeting people over the Silver Sunday weekend gave me such joy, seeing people create new connections and show how even a simple activity can help create lasting bonds."
