Cllr Paul Swaddle OBE, Leader of Westminster City Council, told a meeting of the full council that the administration is delivering on the priorities local people said mattered most, safety and enforcement, just over 100 days after taking office.
Cllr Swaddle said:
"Just over 100 days ago, we promised to deliver on local people's priorities.
"Today, I can tell this chamber that we are delivering. That starts with the issues local people told us matter most: safety and enforcement. We made enforcement a priority for the first time in this council's history, with a dedicated cabinet member to drive it, and the results are speaking for themselves.
"More than 650 dangerously parked dockless bikes removed since July. £250,000 in fines already paid. A data-sharing partnership with Airbnb, backed by a new task force targeting illegal short-term lets."
Responding to opposition criticism that the administration is an "enforcement-led council," Cllr Swaddle said:
"As the party opposite calls us an enforcement-led council, well, I'm glad we agree. This administration is delivering safe streets after four years of Labour's managed decline."
