Police and Westminster City Council joined forces for a cycle action day in Belgravia on Tuesday 15 September, in response to concerns raised by residents about bike-related issues. Sergeant Claire Napper said officers issued tickets to cyclists who committed offences, while also educating cyclists on safer cycling throughout London. Cllr Rachael Robathan said the joint action was aimed at improving cycling safety in Westminster and Belgravia and encouraging consideration for other road users, including tackling dumped bikes and cyclists jumping red lights on Exhibition Road.
Cllr Robathan said:
"It is really important and great joint action with the police, which we really appreciate, and residents, to really highlight the importance of driving safely, but also being considerate of other people, so around dumping bikes, but also things like here we are on Exhibition Road, educating people not to jump red lights.
"So part of our overall campaign to improve cycling safety in Westminster, Belgravia."
