Ahead of this Wednesday's meeting of Full Council, we spoke to Councillor Paul Swaddle, Westminster's Leader-Elect. Paul introduced the Conservative leadership team.
Last week, Westminster voted for change. I am proud to lead a Conservative council that will deliver on the priorities local people have raised with us: safe streets, a clean city, and real value for money.
This week, I have set out the team that will help me do it.
Your senior Westminster Conservative team is:
- Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Enforcement - Cllr Caroline Sargent
- Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Growth and Planning - Cllr Tim Barnes
- Cabinet Member for Value for Money and Finance - Cllr Paul Fisher
- Cabinet Member for Adults and Health - Cllr Lorraine Dean
- Cabinet Member for Children and Education - Cllr Hannah Galley
- Cabinet Member for Resident Services and Civic Pride - Cllr Robert Rigby
- Cabinet Member for City Management - Cllr Tim Mitchell
- Cabinet Member for Innovation - Cllr Mark Shearer
- Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration - Cllr David Harvey
We are wasting no time.
One of our first acts has been to halt any more work on the C51 Cycleway scheme on Hamilton Terrace in St John's Wood.
Over 1,000 residents backed the local campaign against it, raising serious concerns about safety, the loss of parking and electric charging points, and the enormous cost of ripping up the road.
We listened then. We are acting now.
This is what Real Action looks like from day one.
