Labour controlled Camden Council has started to take action on dockless e-bikes, but Westminster Labour refuses to act, despite residents demanding a change. Badly parked e-bikes continue to be a nuisance for residents in Westminster because of this failure by the Labour controlled Westminster Council.

Camden is undertaking enforcement action to tackle badly parked and dumped dockless electric hire bikes.
“It is vital that our streets remain safe and accessible for people walking around our borough, especially for those with mobility issues, blind and partially sighted individuals, wheelchair users and parents with prams. We want to reduce unnecessary motor vehicle trips and promote active travel options including cycling, and the availability of dockless hire bikes is important to this. But we are also aware that inconsiderate and inappropriate parking of these can obstruct pavements, pedestrian crossings, and access for residents and businesses. We are collecting resident and business feedback about hotspot areas for bike dumping and are using our enforcement powers to remove and store hire e-bikes that are causing obstructions and that continue to be an issue. We are then storing them for collection by the parent company."
Councillor Adam Harrison, Cabinet Member for Planning and a Sustainable Camden
We are also issuing Fixed Penalty Notices of £100 per bike for bikes found left in resident, business, disabled and doctor parking bays. This enforcement will sit alongside our existing package of measures already in place which include rolling out dockless bike hire bays across Camden.
Councillor Harrison continued:
“To further reduce these issues, our teams are also patrolling known hotspots to remove badly parked bikes.
“Residents and businesses can also report issues to us by using the Love Clean Street App.”
