Royal Parks and Schools Police cut by Labour

Local police in Westminster are under attack from Labour. We spoke with the Conservative Leader of Westminster City Council, Cllr Paul Swaddle, to find out more. Paul explained,

Westminster relies on strong neighbourhood policing in our schools, our parks and on our streets. It is what keeps our city safe, residents reassured and stops problems escalating.

But Labour-led Westminster Council has stood idly by as Sadiq Khan has failed to back the Met Police.

The consequence is significant reductions in frontline neighbourhood officers embedded in our communities, police counter closures and disbanding specialist units.

Here is the reality of the Mayor's police cuts across London:

  • 1,700 officers cut
  • 371 specialist school officers gone
  • Royal Parks policing dismantled

Westminster Labour and Sadiq Khan have let it happen. Westminster is less safe because of their (in)action.

It is no surprise that Labour-led Westminster’s complacency on street safety has coincided with crime rising across our city.

Same Old Labour-led Westminster’s policy decisions are making matters worse

Westminster Labour’s record for street safety and enforcement is humiliating.

Delays in regulating pedicabs, weak enforcement on short-term lets and a focus on pet projects instead of tackling rising crime is undermining confidence and public safety.

Our city deserves better than incompetence and excuses as Westminster Labour and Sadiq Khan allow frontline policing to be gutted in our city.

That is why I have already announced that, if elected in May, I will appoint a Cabinet Member for Enforcement to restore focus, accountability and calls for a crackdown on crime.

Westminster Conservatives will always stand up for safe streets and proper policing to keep our people and places safe.
