PDHU: Labour's £66,000 charge is unfair and unnecessary say local Conservatives

Westminster Labour is planning to charge leaseholders in properties supplied by the Pimlico District Heating Undertaking up to £66,000 per flat. Local Pimlico Councillor Ed Pitt Ford met Cllr Paul Swaddle, the Leader of the Opposition Conservative Group at Westminster City Council, to share local people's concerns.

Cllr Paul Swaddle explains,

"I'm here with Ed to hear more about how the Pimlico District Heating Undertaking campaign is going. Ed?"

"Thank you, Paul. So we're campaigning to allow people to be released from District Heating in its entirety and install small electric solutions, whether that's electric combi boilers or air source heat pumps, where appropriate.

What we found is that what the council is proposing could cost up to £66,000 for a new system, which just seems unfair and unnecessary."

Cllr Swaddle concluded,

"We have to find a solution for the people of Pimlico. That is totally unacceptable. And if we're elected in May 2026, this will be Ed and my's top priority to sort for Pimlico."
