Swaddle Speaks Up

Last week saw TfL finally launch a consultation on the licensing of pedicabs. This much-delayed consultation comes nearly a year after the bill became law - following years of effort led by former Cities of London and Westminster MP Nickie Aiken (Conservative) supported by thousands of local people, business representatives and community groups.

It is important that local residents make their voices heard on this issue which has been plaguing central London and its tourists for far too long.

We believe we need firm licensing that makes the use of amplified music illegal, introduces standard tariffs that mean people are not scammed, and that drivers are checked to ensure they are not working illegally in the UK. These rules, alongside police checks for criminal records here and abroad are vital for passenger safety.

So please fill in the survey, or email TfL. And please share this widely on social media and to your neighbours.

Together, we can ensure that pedicabs are highly regulated and no longer cause the problems they do today.
