E-Bikes in Westminster - sharing your concerns with Lime

Swaddle Speaks Up

Dockless e-bikes are great at getting people around our city - We use them ourselves -  but the current scheme simple is not good enough for busy city like Westminster.

The Labour-run Council have had long enough to implement a scheme and non-compliance measures but are simply failing the people living here. All too often bikes are parked outside of the designated bays, blocking the pavement for other users and a particular hazard for the visually impaired, buggies and mobility scooters. Even when parked in bays, the bays are often overflowing, sometimes with more than 50 bikes!

We need:

• a scheme that provides enough bays, in the right places.

• need operators to fine users that park in the wrong places.

• fines for cycling on the pavement and in pedestrianised areas.

• the Council to fine operators that don’t enforce the rules

• the Council to clear bikes parked incorrectly and charge operators for doing so

Cllr Paul Swaddle arranged to meet with the largest operator of e-bikes, Lime, to share the concerns and frustrations of the citizens of Westminster.

What do you think we need to raise with them?  We want to hear your experiences

PS We were excited to see the Standard reporting that the City of London has started to  fine operators over abandoned e-bikes. Westminster Council should do the same.

Labour is being careless with your money and failing on crime

At Labour’s Westminster City Council budget last week, I made Westminster Labour answer for their reckless spending and weak action on rising crime and declining street standards. Westminster Labour has wasted £27 million on a failed housing contractor, self-awarded senior Labour councillors pay rises of up to 62 per cent and are projected to hike your Council Tax by 75 per cent over the next four years.
