Earlier in the year, we presented a petition from local people to Westminster City Council asking for the Sussex Street play area to be converted into a publicly accessible green space for all.
Pimlico is severely lacking public green spaces, and this would be an excellent opportunity to use an old bomb site to address this.
Sadly, the Labour-led Council dismissed the petition without talking to or informing local councillors and have instead commissioned architects to design social housing for the space. Labour has:
- ignored local people despite promising to consult more
- turned down the opportunity for a park despite declaring an ecological emergency
- decided to build on a children's play area, denying them a local space to play
A fairer Westminster only if you have the same ideological mindset as the Labour administration. Some people are more equal than others it seems!
