London celebrated Pride on 1st July. Council representatives, officers and councillors joined the Lord Mayor of Westminster in the parade through central London.

Cllr. Ed Pitt Ford commented, “It was heartwarming to see the huge variety of organisations represented in the parade and the massive support for LGBTQIA+ people.

According to research by Just Like Us, of Black LGBT+ young people (aged 11-18) 89% have experienced suicidal thoughts and nearly ⅓ of LGBT+ young people have self harmed.

Cllr Paul Swaddle, Leader of Westminster City Council, argues the policy takes too blunt an approach to wealth. "High property values do not always translate into high household incomes," he said, warning that residents whose homes have simply risen in value over time, without any change to their actual earnings, could be unfairly caught out.
