We spoke with Cllr Murad Gassanly about exciting plans for new sheltered housing for Pimlico. 35 new one-bedroom flats for those most in need should be completed by 2025.

Murad explains

I'm outside the old Balmoral Castle pub, the building that's been in scaffolding now for some ten years.

And I'm very pleased that this year in June, we got the planning permission to start work on the brand new sheltered housing scheme that will deliver 35 one-bedroom flats for those who are in most need.

Now, the work is already beginning, we see the preparation underway.

The old garages have now been cleared out and hopefully, very soon the first building materials will be delivered.

And we hope that the scheme will be complete by 2025, at least phase one of the scheme.

We have an ageing population in Churchill Gardens and across Pimlico South, and working with my local Conservative colleagues, we have secured a Local Lettings Plan, which means that residents in Churchill Gardens will get the first dibs for these new flats.

Our Plan for Safe Streets

Its time for Safe Streets in Westminster

Wednesday, 1 April, 2026
Under Labour, crime has got worse. Phone theft, antisocial behaviour, public disorder and drug dealing have all increased. People think twice before using their phone on the street. Shopkeepers have accepted shoplifting as a daily reality. Families avoid their local parks. And schools have lost community police officers. All under Sadiq Khan’s watch as Westminster Labour have overseen managed decline.
