Cycle Lane

Several people have got in touch with us asking what your Conservative-led Council has done to make travel around Westminster more environmentally friendly.

To make travel around Westminster greener Conservative-run Westminster City Council has:

  • Made permanent 11 out of the 14 temporary cycle lanes brought in during the pandemic
  • Continued with the roll out new 'cycleway' routes through the city, working towards a fully joined up cycling network across Westminster
  • Proactively worked to make it safer and easier to walk around Westminster
  • Introduced secure cycle hangers across our City
  • Installed ten 'school streets', making it safer for young people to walk and cycle to school as well as improving air quality around school
  • Installed the largest network of EV chargers anywhere in London, enabling more and more people to use zero-emissions vehicles
  • Joined in with TfL's trial E-scooter hire system

Westminster Conservatives are committed to making Westminster a greener City.

Labour cut 1,000 police officers in London, breaking their promise to keep our streets safe

Monday, 25 August, 2025
Labour’s decisions are making our streets here in Westminster less safe. In just one year, new figures show that London has lost over 1,000 police officers - and that includes officers taken off our streets here in Westminster. Across the country, Sir Keir Starmer has left our police forces with a £350 million funding black hole, forcing cuts and slashing recruitment by 17%. That means fewer neighbourhood officers, slower response times, and overstretched teams who are being asked to do more with less. Forcing our police to pick and choose which crimes they respond to is simply unacceptable.
