Paddington Recreation Ground

There have been recent leaflets distributed in Maida Vale suggesting that the lovely children's play area in Paddington Recreation Ground is under threat of closure. This is not the case.

Maintenance on the play area was carried out over the winter period, adding new equipment and an expanded safety surface area. Many residents have been in touch to say how much they've been enjoying it and seeing how well used it is.

Elsewhere in Paddington Recreation Ground:

  • The dog exercise areas have had a makeover with new fencing, new gates and new planting.
  • New trellis work in the Rose Garden is complete with planting underway together with path and fence repairs in the environmental area.
  • We are already in conversation with the Cabinet Member for Environment and City Management about repairing the paths between the CafĂ© and Randolph Gate as well as the section close to the chin up bars.
  • We have been in conversation with the relevant Cabinet Member about cycling in the Rec after a number of residents told us about their near misses.
  • We have raised the potholing issues near Carlton Gate with the relevant Cabinet Member.
  • Tennis courts 1-7 are to be refurbished with four of the courts having an artificial surface and three remaining as tarmac.

As reported in a previous newsletter, electric mowers, hedge cutters and leaf blowers will be a superb, very quiet, and of course, very effective addition to the maintenance of the Rec. We have forwarded concerns from nearby residents about the noise disturbance caused by current machinery to the relevant Cabinet Member.
