Charging Point

There are now nearly 500 electric charging points in Westminster, a figure which is planned to more than double by the end of the year to over 1000. This is the highest number of charging points of any local authority in the UK. Sutherland Avenue has become “electric avenue” with each lamppost now converted to allow charging of electric vehicles. 

The 24 new lamppost charging points were launched by Cllr Andrew Smith, Cabinet Member for Environment & Highways.

Labour-run Council belatedly tries to distance itself from the Labour Government’s proposed planning reforms

Westminster Conservatives are delighted that the current Labour council has finally publicly agreed with the Conservative councillors’ position on Angela Rayner’s proposed planning reforms. This Labour Government has proposed completely removing local councillors from the decision-making process on almost all applications. Westminster Conservatives pointed out that this is undemocratic and could undermine public trust in planning decisions back in March.
