Parking Bays removed to stop pollution from idling coaches

The Council is removing three coach parking bays on Horseferry Road because of the persistent refusal of coach drivers to switch off their engines. They will be replaced by Electric Vehicle charging points, cycling hangars, and resident parking in a scheme to reduce unnecessary emissions and noise pollution.

Cllr Louise Hyams says "This shows that the Council is serious about protecting our residents from harmful air pollution and promoting alternative and green forms of transport. If transport firms are not going to act responsibly, this development shows we won’t hesitate to enforce through both short term and also longer-term measures."
