The council’s neighbourhood problem-solving co-ordinators have been working with St Mungo’s, the charity helping rough sleepers, the Paddington and Marble Arch business improvement districts, WCC’s Integrated Street Engagement Unit and with the Metropolitan and Romanian police to address both the needs of the vulnerable among the street population and unacceptable commercial begging operations.

Community Protection Notices have been issued to those involved with systematic or organised begging activities, while targeted outreach is used to help those entitled to healthcare or assistance with benefits. Go to the Council's website to find out how to report a rough sleeper you are concerned about, and how you can give to the charities which help people off the streets.

"Each year Westminster Council helps hundreds of people off the streets, referring many to the safety of building-based services," said Councillor Ian Adams, Cabinet Member for Public Protection and Licensing, and Hyde Park Ward Member. "The best way to help rough sleepers is to donate to our outreach service via the link above, rather than give money directly to people begging on the streets."
