Walden House

After extensive talks with Grosvenor we have secured Walden House tenants' return to new properties in any future development at Cundy Street. Murad Gassanly, Conservative Councillor for Churchill and Westminster Council Leader Nickie Aiken visited Walden House in September after Grosvenor confirmed their affordable housing plans for the site. In a statement Grosvenor confirmed plans to double the number of affordable flats on site as part of the future development.

Under current Council policy at least 30% of new housing on Cundy Street site will have to be affordable. Talks are now focusing on ensuring that the right type of accommodation is built to meet the needs of returning Walden House residents, some of whom are presently overcrowded.

Conservative councillors are working to ensure the best possible deal for residents and the whole community and see here a great opportunity to significantly increase local affordable housing provision.

Cllr Gassanly explains:

"I welcome Grosvenor’s commitment to double the number of affordable homes on the Cundy Flats / Walden House site. Right from the outset we have engaged with Grosvenor in a critical but constructive way and viewed their emerging proposals with an open mind. There are still many outstanding issues to resolve but our approach has already resulted in positive outcomes for residents. Now we are able to ensure the right number of suitable affordable homes will be build and Walden House tenants can return to these new flats."

The single most important issue that residents tell us matters to them is feeling safe when walking around the area.

Unfortunately, we regularly receive reports about shoplifting in Marylebone. We have managed to get the council to install several CCTV cameras.
