Nine Elms Bridge

Wandsworth Council has come up with proposals to land the Nine Elms-Pimlico bridge on Grosvenor Road, near Churchill Gardens estate. Westminster City Council opposes this plan, especially given widespread concerns and objections raised by local people. Churchill Ward Conservative councillor Murad Gassanly commented:

“I am sceptical about these proposals and do not think the suggested landing site near the Churchill Gardens estate is suitable or beneficial to residents on this side of the river. The embankment on Grosvenor Road does need improvement and would be ideal location for a new green space or flower gardens.”

Labour-run Council belatedly tries to distance itself from the Labour Government’s proposed planning reforms

This Labour Government has proposed completely removing local councillors from the decision-making process on almost all applications. Westminster Conservatives pointed out that this is undemocratic and could undermine public trust in planning decisions back in March.
