Crossing

Sussex Gardens is now safer for pedestrians and cyclists following the quietway and crossing works. We appreciate that there was some traffic disruption, not helped by Thames Water, but there has been a real improvement in safety as a result. The kerb build-out at Burwood Place is also well under way and should make it much easier for many Hyde Park residents walking to and from Waitrose, Argos and the other shops on the far side of Edgware Road. The pedestrian refuge at Clarendon Place is also under construction.

Remember, to contact your local police officers about traffic or other matters, you can email them or contact them on Twitter via @MPSHydePark.

Labour-run Council belatedly tries to distance itself from the Labour Government’s proposed planning reforms

Thursday, 14 August, 2025
Westminster Conservatives are delighted that the current Labour council has finally publicly agreed with the Conservative councillors’ position on Angela Rayner’s proposed planning reforms. This Labour Government has proposed completely removing local councillors from the decision-making process on almost all applications. Westminster Conservatives pointed out that this is undemocratic and could undermine public trust in planning decisions back in March.
