Marylebone Station

There has been a steady flow of good news at Marylebone Station. Last year we reported that the Conservative-led Council served a Noise Abatement Order (NAO) over Marylebone Station. The noise-level can still be troublesome at times, but it has been much reduced following the NAO and representations from residents. This news was followed by Chiltern Railways’ plans to develop hybrid-commuter-trains capable of running on rechargeable batteries for short distances. The use of diesel can therefore be reduced in stations and residential areas.

We can also report the progress BNP Paribas have made in cooperation with Air Labs, JC Decaux and Chiltern Railways by installing four air filters on the station concourse to improve air quality. We welcome the active interest in air quality shown by some major employers in the area, notably BNP Paribas, which has been especially active on behalf of its 5,000 employees in the their buildings close to Marylebone Station. We hope to be able to quantify improvements in air quality in due course.
