Local people have been voicing concern about speeding traffic and pedestrian safety along St John’s Wood High Street. Your councillors have been working with officers on introducing a crossing at the junction of Wellington Place and Barrow Hill Road given the high footfall of children and elderly who cross here to access the St John’s Wood Church Gardens. Detailed designs were drawn up and following a favourable public consultation this new crossing will be installed over the winter.
As one person living on St John’s Wood High Street told us ‘this is fantastic news…. a crossing would help reduce the accelerating speeds of sports cars and lorries and provide some additional protection to residents, children and elderly; thank you for tackling this important local item.’
