Fly tipping

Fly tipping has been one of the biggest issues we have faced in Bayswater and Councillors Richard Elcho and Emily Payne have unrelentingly lobbied the council on behalf of residents. Consequently, we are pleased to announce that Bayswater will be the target of a sustained campaign to address this issue. From Monday 10th December the Westminster Street Waste Action Team (SWAT) will be solely focused on Bayswater gathering data and identifying the perpetrators and patterns for dumping. To help us identify the problem hotspots and prioritise areas please email us.

In January we will be launching an information campaign, accompanied by council officers going door to door to speak to residents and hosting several street awareness campaigns. Our first will be taking place on Tuesday 8th January from 9am on the corner of St. Stephens Garden and Westbourne Park Road. We will position an influx of inspectors (an additional six will be joining our current allocation) and the SWAT on the streets of Bayswater to educate and penalise offenders. As we are aware that significant fly tipping comes from non-residents we will supplement these efforts with CCTV. In addition, we will be reviewing the number of street recycling collections per week and our ability to penalise for a first offence. We will be looking to work with local estate agents to include an information pack for new residents moving into the area to ensure our efforts are sustainable.

We are proud of our neighbourhood and are committed to eradicating fly tipping.

Labour-run Council belatedly tries to distance itself from the Labour Government’s proposed planning reforms

Thursday, 14 August, 2025
Westminster Conservatives are delighted that the current Labour council has finally publicly agreed with the Conservative councillors’ position on Angela Rayner’s proposed planning reforms. This Labour Government has proposed completely removing local councillors from the decision-making process on almost all applications. Westminster Conservatives pointed out that this is undemocratic and could undermine public trust in planning decisions back in March.
