Silver Sunday was the brainchild of Warwick Ward Councillor Christabel Flight. It started with a tea dance and within a few short years has turned into a national campaign to tackle the blight of loneliness that affects so many older people. Throughout Westminster there will be lots of free events from late September up to December.
Cllr Christabel Flight said: “Silver Sunday this year falls on 7th October, and again I have to thank so many people for arranging some absolutely fantastic events. All are included in Westminster Plus which goes to every Westminster resident receiving a Freedom pass. It is also available online at www.silversunday.org.uk. Last year there were 766 events throughout the country, so let’s see what happens this year, however, Westminster’s offerings are truly wonderful.”
