Background
In partnership with Transport for London, we will be making improvements to pedestrian facilities along Wigmore Street. The works will improve the traffic signal junctions along Wigmore Street and will improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians.
There have been longstanding concerns amongst our residents and businesses regarding the safety of pedestrians who wish to cross Wigmore Street and its side roads, which we have been encouraging TfL to address for some time.
Planned Works
The planned improvements along Wigmore Street are summarised below:
• Improvements to pedestrian facilities in the area to make it easier and safer to walk through the district;
• Upgrades to pedestrian crossings along Wigmore Street including the introduction of pedestrian countdowns on the junctions;
• Provision of advanced stop lines for cyclists at key junctions;
• Some footways will be widened in the area (where possible).
