Bringing Christmas cheer to Queensway

We joined Maureen Lipman, star of stage and screen, to switch on the Queensway Christmas Tree lights.

The event was kicked off by the children from Hallfield School singing carols and with mulled wine, sausages and mince pies provided by residents' group SEBRA and local businesses .

The tree was paid for by contributions from the Lancaster Gate and Bayswater Ward Budgets to give Queensway a festive boost.

We hope it fills you all with Christmas cheer as you pass by.

Queensway improvements beginning

The first phase of exciting plans to upgrade Queensway has begun in earnest with enabling works starting on site as part of plans to widen the pavement in the middle section of the street.

Queensway is our local high street and that is why we are committed to building a better and more vibrant place, with the services and amenities that residents want in a much improved environment. The project will eventually deliver wide-ranging improvements to the whole of Queensway and the surrounding area. Wherever possible, work will be undertaken in phases to minimise disruption and to coincide with on-going developments.

Further details will be released in the coming weeks and we will keep local residents and businesses fully up to date on a regular basis.

Tackling anti-social behaviour on the Hallfield Estate

Residents have been in touch with concerns about anti-social behaviour on the Hallfield Estate.

We have worked with the local police Safer Neighbour Team and CityWest Homes to tackle the problems. The police have targeted the area with both uniformed and plain clothed patrols and CityWest Homes’ anti-social behaviour team has been meeting local residents.

The Hallfield Estate is generally a safe area with a strong sense of community and we are keen to keep it that way. Residents can play a key role in letting us know where problems are happening and helping us work with the police and CityWest Homes to deal quickly with the issue.

If you are aware of problems in your area, please get in touch.

Councillors back advice for EU citizens

As many as a quarter of Lancaster Gate’s residents are EU citizens. They play a vital role in the economy of our city and in our public services. We want to support all our residents and help them to continue to call our area home.

We think that it is important that our EU residents get the help and advice they need about the impact of Brexit on their status. We have therefore backed Westminster City Council's My Westminster advice and support service to EU citizens living in Westminster. This service will offer general support and advice on their rights and help people navigate the British Citizen Application process..

We are sure that helping people get the help and advice they need is something that everyone would support, whichever side they took in the referendum.
