Improving access to broadband

Councillor Jonathan Glanz has been working with officers and local stakeholders to improve access to broadband across the West End and Westminster as a whole

Cllr Glanz said: “As part of the recent work we have undertaken, Soho residents in the CityWest Homes blocks of Dufours Place, Ingestre Court and Kemp House are receiving an offer from Community Fibre to install ultrafast broadband in their blocks over the next few months.”

Companies including Community Fibre, G Networks and Hyperoptic are working with the Council and landowners to provide a range of different options to residents and businesses in the West End.

Cllr Glanz added: “In my role as the Lead Member for Broadband on Westminster City Council I have been working with industry stakeholders to make ultrafast and high speed internet, including fibre-based connections, available more widely across the city and to prepare tor 5G mobile connectivity.”

Standing up for West End residents

Councillor Paul Church, West End Ward resident and community campaigner, addressed a meeting of the Residents' Society of Mayfair & St. James's, where he spoke of his work in ensuring West End residents are at the heart of everything that the Council does.

He highlighted the ways in which he is fighting overdevelopment and standing alongside residents to protect Mayfair's residential nature, protecting our local communities from inappropriate late licences and other infringements on residential amenity.

Councillor Church commented:

'When I was elected to serve my local community four years ago, I made a promise to my fellow local residents that I would serve them and put our community first. That is exactly what I have done. West End residents mean the world to me and I take a great pride in being their voice on Westminster Council'.
