Slug and Lettuce licence extension rejected – Plans to turn the Slug and Lettuce on Artillery Row into a night-club were thrown out after an effective campaign by residents and the Vincent Square Ward Councillors; “together we have protected residential peace and quiet” said Cllr Danny Chalkley
Opposing rooftop cooking equipment at 75 Page Street – Many residents have been concerned by the poor state of the new building at 75 Page Street and Westminster Council planning enforcement officers have taken a special interest after being tipped off by your Conservative Councillors. “Planning Committee have organised a visit to review the building's application for roof top equipment for a basement restaurant space after opposition from residents and Councillors together. Residents are not up for food smells and noise” said Cllr David Harvey.
We are going to be encouraging residents to give further views on securing the long term future and possible improvement of the much loved Queen Mother sports centre next year, as part of plans to work with the community to protect north Pimlico from externally led over development. Today we are investing £1.6 million in the Queen Mother Centre for medium term improvement. We are sorry that the local Labour Party has been scaring residents by claiming that the Queen Mother is threatened, when the message is clear that Westminster Conservative councillors love the Queen Mother and are investing in its future.
There appears to be wide support for a 20mph zone around St Vincent De Paul School and Morpeth Terrace; thank you to all who have responded and we shall take this into a formal process early in 2017.
47 new units of Westminster Council sponsored social and affordable flats have been opened on Thorny Street, in partnership with social hosing provider Dolphin Living.
Other local issues have included helping long term residents stay in homes in the areawith their family, quick action on rubbish and fly tipping – with big new £400 fines for fly tippers and work with local residents and charities on the anti social behaviour on the Cathedral Piazza.
