The Star Public House planning application

Your local Councillors supported the concerns of many local residents around The Star public house and its planning application to install an overhead awning in its forecourt.

The worry of many was this canopy could provide year round shelter for the purpose of shisha smoking.  Although The Star is technically just outside of our ward on St John’s Wood Road & Charlbert Street, any proposal would affect our residents living near-by.  At a planning committee meeting on Tuesday 23rd May this application was refused on both design grounds and the amenity impact on residents.

It is worth remembering The Star was given ‘Asset of Community Value’ (ACV) status by Westminster Council following its closure in March 2015 and a campaign to stop it being turned into luxury flats.
