Westminster schools top London results table

Conservative-led Westminster City Council has been named as one of the top London boroughs for school performance

  • In Westminster Years 10 and 11 are now ranked number one in inner London and fourth in the country according to a new Department of Education report
  • GCSE results show that Westminster schools are second in inner London for pupils achieving a pass in English and Maths – 74% of pupils achieve a pass compared to 65% nationally
  • Our Primary school pupils are also achieving outstanding results with children in Years 3 to 6 now rated fifth in London and 15th best in the country
  • In Westminster over 95% of our primary schools are rated Good or Excellent by Ofsted

Cllr Richard Holloway, Bayswater councillor and Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Young People explains:

"I am incredibly proud of what our teachers and pupils are achieving. These are outstanding results from across our schools. It’s only through the kind of great education that our schools are providing that young people can reach their full ambitions.”

School Funding – The Facts

  • Every Westminster School has gained funding from the new National Funding Formula
  • Westminster Council is committed to working with all schools to assist them in managing their budgets
  • An additional £1.3billion for schools funding has been pledged by the Government over two years - meaning England’s schools funding will be £2.6billion higher
