Latest exam results in Conservative-run Westminster show pupils have performed brilliantly and exceeded National indicators, once again.
Our primary schools exceeded the national average in all three areas (maths, reading and writing) for assessments taken at the end of infant and junior stages. Our youngest residents are also performing better than last year in the latest early years assessments.
Once again, the best ever GCSE results were recorded at a time when national performance continues to dip. 73% of children achieved the headline indicator of "5 A*-C grades inc English and Maths”, up from 68% in 2015. The national average fell to 54%!
Our young adults taking ‘A’ Levels achieved outstanding results, too, with 59% A*-B (national average of 53%) and 32% achieving the top grades, A*-A, (26% nationally).
Cabinet Member for Children & Young People, Councillor Danny Chalkley, said: “I welcome the excellent results achieved by our children, young people and schools across the board. With changing assessment indicators, we have seen national results dip, so it is especially encouraging to see Westminster’s results go from strength to strength across all levels”.
