Drugs

Sadly we have seen in parts of Pimlico an increase in drug dealing and taking over recent months. With that has come more begging, particularly outside supermarkets in Warwick Way.

Warwick Ward Councillors have worked with their Tachbrook Councillor colleagues to lobby the police to put more resources into the area, calling for a more visible police presence on the street. Cllr Nickie Aiken explained: “It is very sad that we have seen more open drug dealing and taking. I saw a drug deal myself at 11am one Saturday outside Tesco. Working with a number of local people we have been able to gather intelligence for the police who have acted upon it. They have made a number of arrests locally and a couple of known drug dealers have been charged. Many users do beg to make enough money to buy drugs. I would urge everyone to give to the outstanding charities like St Mungo’s, Thamesreach and the Passage who the council works with to help and support people off drugs and turn their lives around.

Cllr Aiken is so concerned about the lack of police presence across Westminster that she has written to Commissioner Cressida Dick and is set to meet her next month to discuss her concerns.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are concerned about drug dealing, drug taking or any associated anti social behaviour.
