Road

As we mentioned in an earlier newsletter, your local councillors made a request to resurface Warwick Avenue between Clifton Gardens and Harrow Road. The section between Clifton Gardens and Blomfield Road is now completed with the remaining section to Harrow Road planned for later in the year.

The resurfacing of Sutherland Avenue from Castellain Road to Shirland Road has been completed. A new material was used for this project that used innovative recycled material for the first time in Westminster! The material comes from surfaces which have previously been removed for construction. It is then crushed and tested before being re-used. Not only does this offer financial and environmental benefit but it nearly halved the amount of time that was needed to do the work and had a similar reduction in the length of parking suspensions.

Labour cut 1,000 police officers in London, breaking their promise to keep our streets safe

Monday, 25 August, 2025
Labour’s decisions are making our streets here in Westminster less safe. In just one year, new figures show that London has lost over 1,000 police officers - and that includes officers taken off our streets here in Westminster. Across the country, Sir Keir Starmer has left our police forces with a £350 million funding black hole, forcing cuts and slashing recruitment by 17%. That means fewer neighbourhood officers, slower response times, and overstretched teams who are being asked to do more with less. Forcing our police to pick and choose which crimes they respond to is simply unacceptable.
