Traffic and quality of life - 20mph at schools

“Transport for London (TfL) traffic schemes and GPS navigation have drawn more traffic and increasing pollution and congestion, into Vincent Square ward; with taxis, Uber drivers, vans and rat runners”, says Vincent Square Conservative Councillor Danny Chalkley. “We are pushing back":

• by opposing TfL’s proposals for Lambeth Bridge roundabout which would route more traffic into Vincent Square and generate pollution. 500+ residents have supported our campaign.

• We continue to press TfL for urgent safety improvements at the White Swan crossing on Vauxhall Bridge Road.

• After pressure from Conservative Councillors, TfL have accepted that cycle lane changes that would have allowed vehicles to rat run from Victoria street to Milllbank through Vincent Square should be dropped.

• Hundreds of fines have been issued to illegal rat-runners by CCTV cameras, erected to protect residential amenity on Ponsonby Terrace and Ponsonby Place.

We are determined to ensure that Vincent Square remains a fantastic place to live. We have introduced 20mph limits outside our local schools, Millbank Academy and St Vincent De Paul and weight bans to block lorries and delivery vehicles from Morpeth Terrace. We welcome your views please email us.

Labour Party Police reorganisation chaos

The Labour Mayor wants to merge police forces; Westminster’s will be merged with Kensington and Hammersmith. The pilot merger in East London has seen 999 response times TRIPLE.  All 3 boroughs are opposed to the change. Police need to be local. The Labour Mayor has already reduced local policing and threatened our specialist gangs unit. “We need to respond powerfully to the Mayor. So, please sign our petition” says Vincent Square team member Selina Short.
