Many residents are tenants of social housing charities, such as Peabody and London and Quadrant, amongst many others. Many social housing providers are excellent, but you have reported a number of incidents of poor management, telling us in one instance “I had real concerns about safety, thank you for getting involved and reminding my landlord of their obligations”. While our powers over social landlords are limited, our determination to do our best for you Vincent Square residents is not, “So if you need help but are not a City West homes tenant, we will still go into to battle for you”, said Conservative Councillor Danny Chalkley.

The Council is also focusing on rogue private landlords, including conducting a borough wide survey of conditions in the private rental sector across Westminster. “We will promote good practice, alongside enforcement and, in extreme cases prosecution”, said Conservative Councillor David Harvey. There will be a focus on illegal houses in multiple occupancy, which can represent a serious fire risk to tenants.
