Your Conservative councillors recently received complaints about speeding in Belgrave Square.
Motorists have been using the square as a racetrack and not stopping for pedestrians using the zebra crossing.
In response to that, the police have set up a Community Speedwatch Group and the first event was held at Belgrave Square where thirteen vehicles were caught speeding at over 20mph and will now receive warning letters in the post.
Councillor Elizabeth Hitchcock said, "It's great news that on the back of concerns of local people, the police have set a Community Speedwatch Group and that so many warning letters have already been issued. We want to make the area safe for pedestrians and other road users, this community group will help to do just that."
