Officers from Westminster City Council, the Metropolitan Police and tax inspectors recently checked out 90 cafes providing shisha and confiscated suspected illegal tobacco from 45 of them. Other criminal offences were also investigated.
Many of the premises were in Hyde Park Ward. Cllr Heather Acton said: “Aside from the illegalities, it is important for people to realise how damaging shisha smoking is for their health and the health of those around them, as both the preparation and the smoking of shisha cause passive smoking issues.”
