EU Nationals

We believe that the contribution to our City made by the thousands of EU nationals who live in Westminster deserves our recognition and support. The City Council has launched a number of measures to help EU citizens feel certain that Westminster can remain their long-term home after Brexit.

At the end of January, we ran two back-to-back seminars on how to apply for settled and pre-settled status. These seminars followed on from the first meeting organised in March last year.

Cllr Nickie Aiken commented: “I believe it is vital that local people who are EU citizens have access to robust information to help them through this very confusing period. A year ago, I arranged for an advice service and helpline to be set up for EU citizens to help them navigate the settled status application process. If you are an EU citizen living in Pimlico and have a question about this, you can call 0300 330 9011 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 2pm.”

Labour-run Council belatedly tries to distance itself from the Labour Government’s proposed planning reforms

Thursday, 14 August, 2025
Westminster Conservatives are delighted that the current Labour council has finally publicly agreed with the Conservative councillors’ position on Angela Rayner’s proposed planning reforms. This Labour Government has proposed completely removing local councillors from the decision-making process on almost all applications. Westminster Conservatives pointed out that this is undemocratic and could undermine public trust in planning decisions back in March.
